Cook at Home with Carnation Milk

Browsing the Carnation's website, Cook at Home made me realized I'm not yet ready for a high caliber recipe. However, I can't back out now. I made a promise. Limme share to you the easiest way to turn ordinary days into Mmmdays with Carnation!

Creamy Macaroni Chicken Soup with Carnation Milk

Here are the ingredients;

350 grams macaroni pasta
250-300 grams chicken breast
3 pieces hotdog, cut about 2 cm  thick
1-2 cloves garlic, crushed/minced
2 knorr chicken stock cube
1 small white onion, sliced
2 carrots, sliced in julienne strips
2 tbsp Butter
1 stalk celery, sliced
1-2 cups roughly shredded cabbage
Salt and pepper
1 can Carnation Milk

Cuisineuer Steps:

In a casserole boil the chicken in the water. Add 1 cube of knorr chicken cube. You can add the salt and pepper, if you like. Once the chicken is cooked, take it out of the water to shred or to slice. Set aside the chicken. Put in the macaroni pasta on the chicken stock cover until cooked al dente.

While waiting for the pasta to be cooked, put some butter in a pan and sauté garlic, onion and carrots. Put the hotdog and cook for about two more minutes. Add your chicken and continue mixing. Add knorr chicken cube to taste. Turn off the fire.

When the pasta is cooked, add the meat mixture in the casserole. Then add up your cabbage, celery, salt and pepper. Turn off the fire. After a minute pour the Carnation Evaporated Milk.

Serve with a big smile during cold, rainy days.

I took a picture without the Milk yet. Cute bowl courtesy of Anney.

Cuisineuer Tip/s: Put Carnation Milk after everything is cooked.  It will enhance the creamy flavor of your Chicken Soup. Use butter instead of oil, the yellowish color on top of your soup is so appetizing.

Carnation's GOOD EATS at Buenisimo

Sweet Corn Panna Cotta & Chocolate Truffles

The Cuisineuer was part of an exclusive culinary event last week at Buenisimo in Eastwood Mall. Graced by Chef China Cojuanco, we feasted in a whole new dining experience with the goodness of Carnation Milk. The Good Eats Menu were Lengua Legislativa, Croquetas de Pollo con Huevos, Canadian Glazed Ham and Tricolor Pasta in Salmon Cream sauce. For dessert, we had Sweet Corn Panna Cota and the delicate, melt-in-your-mouth Chocolate Truffles (picture above), my utmost favorite.

Lengua Legislativa

We were given a scorecard to rate each recipe at the start of the event. Majority of us chose the Lengua Legislativa cooked with Carnation Milk as the Good Eat of the event.

Croquetas de Pollo con Huevos

Another breakthrough star of the night is the Croquetas de Pollo con Huevos. I liked the crispy texture of the croquetas outside and the soft, good taste of the cheese inside together with the prepared sauce with Carnation Milk. I lost the pictures of  Canadian Glazed Ham and Tricolor Pasta in Salmon Cream sauce. You can check it out on The Peach Kitchen. All the dishes are magnificent.

Who said that China and Rome are Continents apart?

Another good thing was Carnation gave us a bag of Carnation Milk. Hmmmm, what should I do with this, y'all know that I am dependent on the fastfoods and restaurants scattered around the Metro because I am living alone. Is this an omen  to start cooking at home and unleash my culinary talent? I'll give it a try. For the first time, I'll cook for y'all on my next post. I'll ask Chef China how or better yet limme check out Carnation's website, Cook at Home for a good Carnation recipe.

Onésimus - A Holiday Gift to Myself

Last Christmas I got myself a special gift. Well, aside from acquiring balance, healthy and peaceful feeling during the yuletide, I got myself an Onésimus vest. While others selected gadgets and high end toys I was busy thinking what would be the creative way or I would say reasonable tangible things to spend a portion of my 13th month pay.

I'm not comfortable wearing long-sleeves shirt or button up shirt during dress up days at the office. Most of my top clothes are t-shirts, so I thought it was very reasonable for me to purchase a good vest to wear on top of my t shirt to pass the dress code and avoid memo from my boss. hahaha. Plus, vests nowadays are trendy and fashionable. I see corporate people wearing vests at their respective offices and it is cool! Most of them are wearing black waistcoat and i found some vest too ordinary. Being exceptional that I am, I chose white not only because it is my favorite color but it complement most of my shirts.

Onésimus is a greek name for useful. True it is, I was impressed with my purchase, It fitted perfectly. I can wear it on top of a comfortable t-shirt  from Mondays to Wednesday without the inconvenience of ironing my clothes before reporting to work. I so hate ironing my clothes. Now I can save more time to write more posts for you. hahaha. Oh by the way, you can place an order online.

Brother's Burger - Satisfying Urge

Available in different toppings, flame-broiled, 100% beef burgers, served with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, catsup and mayo on an oatmeal bun. Isn't it tempting?

Big Brothers Burger 1/2 lb., Php 175

Once in a while I go for burgers to substitute my rice topped lunch or dinner. So when Daffodil said she wants to treat me at Brothers Burger in Bonifacio High Street, I didn't say no. Daffodil was one of my officemates and she is resigning because of some issues in the office. You know, call center people. We talked about many things, and her growing  "love" with one of our officemates.Saying goodbyes are not easy, I realized, people come and go unto our lives but only few made a difference. We promised not to burn bridges afterall.

While my mind was preoccupied with a lot of things to talked about, my mouth otherwise was pretty much busy savoring the juicy, flame-broiled, 100% beef burgers, served with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, catsup and mayo on an oatmeal bun.  i would say that this is one of the ultimate burgers I had.

My 2011 Starbucks Planner

I’m not much of a fan of Starbucks planner but when I saw the 2011 collection I tried to collect 17 stickers. Well, most of it weren’t from my pocket. Most of the stickers were treated by my sissy’s pinky and peachy. Thank you sissys!

I finally got my Starbucks limited edition 2011 planner 2nd week of December 2010 (I know ,this is a post long overdue). I chose the cool clean stainless steel one. My officemate Jim claimed his planner on the same day, he chose the maroon velvet fabric.

TOSH - The Old Spaghetti House

Fried Mozzarella Sticks

Just like vintage clothes, apparel and accessories, old restaurant and authentic recipes are fashionable. One of our favorite restaurants to hang out around the The Fort  is the TOSH. Whenever someone is sad because she has broken from a long, serious relationship we talked about it in Tosh. If somebody was promoted because she/he has done a good job we celebrate at Tosh. Or maybe just celebrating a daily triumph we love to eat and enjoy tosh's recipes.

Spaghetti Carbonara

Today is nothing special. We just hang out and chose to try their trio number 4, Itallian. For Php 635 it will full 4 people's empty stomachs with Fried Mozzarella Sticks, Spaghetti Carbonara, and Supremo Pizza.

Supremo Pizza

My utmost favorite here is their Classic Lasagna, i'll post one next time. Here at TOSH, there are really treasures waiting to be discovered.

Newport Mall, Resorts World, Pasay City

We signed up to Resorts World Manila's membership to avail the very low all you can eat breakfast at the Mercado. The membership card was auto loaded with 100 points that can be played in the slot machines. I won a couple of 100 points. I found out that playing games in the casino was one way of distressing oneself somehow a relief from boredom. The feel of excitement and the influence of chance was a release from someones dark world. But when I lost Php 200, I quit playing. I understand now why gambling is really addictive. Good thing I have a strong values over things that I know impossible to achieve.

My officemates and I roam around the Newport Mall after a bountiful breakfast at Resorts World Manila's restaurant Mercado.

The Mall is cozy, state-of-the-art and I would say, high end. You can find the best of luxury brands here. Theres a lot of designer shops and restaurant to choose from. Republiq Club Manila is located at the 2nd floor.

I love to dine al fresco, I'm gonna try Red Crab branch here. I liked their set up. The indoor piazza with a glass skyline seems like relaxing atmosphere.

I heard that the Newport Performing Arts Theater is a majestic venue for big events like concerts, award winning plays, exclusive productions and musicals. Hmmm, I'm looking forward to book my first concert here. The whole experience was fun, I enjoyed spending time with my officemates. I should come here more often not to gamble but to relax and enjoy the elegant Mediterranean design of this premium spot in the metro.

Potato Salad

The long hours of work at night is tiring and starving. Call center agents and BPO workers could agree. So my office mates and I looked for a place nearby to spend a buffet breakfast to pamper our taste buds... to treat ourselves, somehow.

Browsing the net, we found out that Mercado Restaurant in Resorts World Manila offers affordable buffet.  We all agreed to try it after work. Upon arrival, we were told that we need to register as a member first to be able to avail the buffet...good thing was, registration was free of charge. Government issued i.d. is needed to be able to sign in, after signing in, the membership card will be issued, don't worry it, was very fast!

The card was auto loaded with 100 points slot credit. We were told that we can use the points to redeem for some beverages and food. I'm not a gambler and this is that's first time to enter a casino. To activate the card, I should play a bet to the slot machine. I won up to 600 points! I had fun!

yogurt with wide selection of toppings on the buffet table and fruits

After activating our membership cards, we headed to Mercado Restaurant for the "all you can eat breakfast". We just need to pay Php 96.33 each. I  took a snapshot of my plate. I had chicken tocino, longanisa  (sausage), bangus tinapa (smoked milkfish) and croissant.

Real Pulpy Deal without Preservatives Added

I just drank a bottle of Minute Maid Pulpy. They say it’s got ‘no preservatives added’. Aw, c’mon…It’s bottled juice. Is that even possible? So I thought maybe... its a joke!

I didn’t believe it the first time I heard it’s got no preservatives added.  So I read the ingredients (even the fine print) and everything checked out! It really has NO PRESERVATIVES ADDED!  That means it doesn’t have ingredients that may turn out to be allergens, or worse...carcinogens!  Whew! Now that’s healthy goodness that tastes so good, I... i will purchase more to substitute my iced tea obsession. I could bring some to my officemates.

So okay, it’s got no preservatives added. That’s really good, right?  Not just because it doesn’t have those icky, harmful ingredients, but it also means... a healthy drink!

So far anyone who still has a hard time believing that Minute Maid has got no preservatives added - meaning it's THAT natural, it's almost like it's plucked straight from the tree, it's just as Mother Nature wanted your orange juice to be, it's got nothing but the good stuff yes, none of those potentially toxic stuff that can harm your brain, kidneys, heart; cause tumors aargh- the list of preservatives' bad effects just go on!!! Anyway, just to prove a point on just how good Minute Maid Pulpy is 'cause it's got NO PRESERVATIVES ADDED, I'm gonna store more in the ref and drink it all day.

Feels good to know about the real pulpy deal, right? C’mon show me a smile on the comment box, and you might win yourself a Really Pulpy Deal! (That’s a chance to win a Minute Maid gift pack simply by commenting. Sweet! C'mon you just might be picked as the lucky 'commentor'!)

Love,

Rome

Ideas of a Perfect Team Bonding

We can create a great team TOGETHER. Team building or Team bonding are activities that help you balance things in the company, reduce stress, or a way of saying "thank you" to your team for a job well done.

( click here to see the foodies i had)

The best team building events are those which tap into your workforce as a whole, and ensuring that participation from every member of the group is natural and spontaneous is a vital factor in getting a hold of the true strength of the team dynamics. Only when all the pieces are on the table can we put together the whole picture and discover what colours it holds. Often even the best team building ideas fall short because of this issue, letting stronger characters overrun the decision making process and creating a collection of egos rather than a unified whole. Shared goals form relationships that benefit the whole and the best team building activities will bring this out. (teambonding.)

The event should rewards those who get good results but also those who help others get good results and those who help make it a nice experience for everyone. This fact is often overlooked. I remember a story somewhere around the net saying that Michael Jordan is not the great basketball player of all time. Magic Johnson it is. Why? Jordan maybe the one who made the score or shot the ball, Magic was the one who assists, steals, rebounds, blocks and power forwards. In one game, he played all 5 positions.

What’s the best team building event you’ve ever tried? Or the worst?

For me, its not about the great food, the luxurious place nor the creative concept. But the sincerity of the one who lead the team.

I hope leaders who read this would give more importance to their "Magic Johnson" in their respective team.

A Brand New Year

I never knew that this year was branded until I wrote this post’s title. Ha ha ha. I don’t think it’s appropriate, do you? Or should I call it a Grand New Year? Hmmmm…I think it would be at Grandest if I would be able to achieve the 10 YES and dump 10 NO NO’s in my New Year resolution.

YES

1.) Learn. Life is about forgetting the answers and enjoying the questions. Commit myself to live a curious Life.
2.) Job Overseas
3.) Eat healthy and learn how to cook.
4.) Stop Smoking (?)
5.) Out of the Country getaway
6.) Relax in Coron, Palawan
7.) A DSLr
8.) Blackberry Torch
9.) Desktop
10.) Above all, Love God, Family and Friends. The love is so sweet.

Contentment is ageless they say. But being contented would stop me from achieving the above mentioned goals. I guess, I should stop complaining but work harder this year to be stable financially, emotionally and physically.

NO

1-10) Stop Complaining.
